Things to know about getting your New York State nursing license
- No temporary license
- Takes 4-6 weeks to receive
- All applicants must complete training on identification and report of child abuse
- New York is a NURSYS participating state
- The State Pool Exam is license qualifying
- If you're looking to stay in the area long term, the New York nursing license expires every three years
Documents needed for getting your New York State nursing license
- Completed application - Notraized
- Verification of all licenses held, current or expired
- Verification of current active license
- Transcripts - received directly from nursing school
- 2 hours Child Abuse coursework or training
- Infection Control Course (every 4 years)
Processing fees to be aware of when getting your New York State nursing license:
- $73 to get your license
- Inactive or lapsed license must contact the board to request application and fees
- RN can walk through the board to reinstate - ($10.00 in addition to renewal fee for letter)
